The District Director of Environmental Health & Safety and Chief Fire Official is responsible for all aspects of Health and Safety throughout the College. The Office of Health & Safety (HS) develops, establishes and administers the College’s policies and procedures for campus environmental management, occupational safety and health practices, ensuring the College’s compliance with all federal, state and local laws, regulatory guidelines and industry standards. This office provides environmental management, occupational safety, and health services to the college community through technical support, informational training programs, consulting, and the periodic auditing of campus environmental health and safety practices.

The mission of the office is to support ��Ŵ��¼�'s long-term contribution and commitment to its environmental and social responsibilities. Our vision is to establish and maintain a healthy and safe environment at BC. The approach in achieving this vision is to involve the BC faculty, staff, students, and the college community-at-large in training programs and initiatives designed to develop a unit of committed individuals who will be our eyes and ears in the identification of potentially hazardous conditions. ��Ŵ��¼�'s Health, Safety, and Security Committee's mission is to improve the health, safety, and security conditions of the college environment.

The committee works to achieve its mission by:

Promoting programs that increase college-community awareness of practices, procedures, and regulations which improve the quality of the work environment of students, faculty, and staff.
Researching and making recommendations to reduce the number and severity of incidents of injury or illness at the College.
Reviewing inspection records, statistical data and reports, as well as College procedures relative to health, safety, and security.

The composition of the committee includes students, faculty, staff, and administrators. It is a UFF committee important in ensuring faculty co-governance of the college. The committee generally meets on Central Campus on the second Thursday of each month during the academic year. Students, faculty, and staff who are not committee members are always welcome to attend the committee's meetings.

The Office of Health and Safety develops, establishes, and administers the College’s policies and procedures for campus environmental compliance, health, and safety. This ensures the College's compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulatory guidelines, and industry standards relating to the environment, health and safety. This Fire Safety Emergency Plan will help you make better choices in emergency situations at work or at home. Each year college and university students, on and off-campus, experience hundreds of fire-related emergencies nationwide. There are several specific causes for fires on college campuses, including cooking, intentionally-set fires, overloaded power strips, and open flames. Overall, most college-related fires are due to a general lack of knowledge about fire safety and prevention. Are you sure you know what to do in case of fire?
